Why isn’t my cruise control feature working?
Cruise control makes the world go round. Rather than having to be fully engaged when driving for miles and miles on the interstate and trying to figure out how to go a consistent speed so drivers behind you don’t get annoyed, cruise control allows you to relax a little. That’s why it can be incredibly disappointing if it doesn’t engage properly. If your cruise control feature isn’t working, find out a few likely culprits below!
The first reason your cruise control feature might not be working is because the brake pedal switch is going. Applying the brakes turns off cruise control, so if the brake pedal switch is going even without you applying the brakes, it will make it impossible to set the cruise control.
Another reason could be a blown fuse, which is the most common reason but is also a simple fix since you’ll just have to replace the fuse with a new one. Lastly, if your speed sensor isn’t working properly, it won’t display your speed on the speedometer which will, in turn, not allow you to turn on cruise control.
The next time your cruise control feature isn’t working, consider one of these three reasons and then take your car in to get fixed.
